1. "I went over to my window and opened it and packed a snowball with my bare hands. A little while later, I still had it with me when I Brossard and Ackley got on the bus. The bus driver opened the doors and made me throw it out. I told him I wasn't going to chuck it at anybody, but he wouldn't believe me. People never believe you."
2. I chose this scene to blog about because I thought it was very strange. I don't understand why you would want to carry around a snowball. He said it looked too nice to throw at anything, but even if that was true why would you want to carry around a snowball for no reason in your bare hands. Where he says that the driver didn't believe him I probably wouldn't have either. You don't usually see people carrying around snowballs just for the fun of it.
3. To be completely honest I have no idea why Salinger made this a big point. Maybe it was just a filler or something. It was just weird. I don't know why he mentioned this.

Grace Poole
I am very confused by Grace Poole. Her character is very suspicious. Is she dangerous? Jane thinks she is the one who started the fire in Mr. Rochester's room. She heard her loud laugh right before the incident happened. That was fishy to me. She also might have bit Mr. Mason. That was very weird! Who goes around biting and attacking people?
Earlier in the reading it says that Jane over heard two servants talking about Grace. They were saying how she gets paid a lot more than everyone else and she could leave if she wanted to. I thought that was weird. Why is she getting paid so much? I was thinking maybe earlier her and Mr. Rochester were together at one point. I feel like maybe that is why she is still there.
Maybe if she is dangerous and violent it is because she is angry at Mr. Rochester. Maybe she is angry that he broke it off. I honestly don't know I want to know more about her character!

connections
I just started reading Jane Eyre. It was kind of a slow start, but I am going to give it a chance. There is so much more to go so hopefully something actually happens in this book.
I was just thinking about Catcher in the Rye and already I have seen some similarities between the two books. Both books have some sort of death involved. In Catcher in the Rye Holden's little brother Allie died and in Jane Eyre both of her parents died. Also they both get sent to a type of boarding school.
The schools are totally different. Holden's school was a rich prep school. Very wealthy people went to that school. In Jane Eyre she is sent to a charity school for orphans. Everyone there is really plain. Since I am not that far into Jane Eyre I havn't made anymore connections yet, but those were just a few I noticed. They might not symbolise anything, but I thought maybe something could come of it.
I guess we will just have to wait and see.

Catcher in the Rye
The first couple nights that we started reading this book were not bad for me. I thought this book was going to be pretty interesting and eventful because people have murdered over this book. That really interested me. As we continued to read I was still interested, but started to get a feel for Holdens character and thats when he started to annoy me. He repeated so much! Also half way through or more still nothing was happening that made me understand why this book would cause someone to murder anyone. I probably did not read as close as those people did, and maybe they had issues but I just don't get it! I also could not stand that he was depressed all the time. Everyone was a bastard or a phonie besides a select few people. According to him his life was just miserable, but he made it that way. He is the one who got kicked out of 4 schools and is going no where with his life. This book just was not a favorite of mine and I am glad to be moving on to a new one!
